He is a passionate photographer and content creator who began his journey at 14. He has since explored 22 countries, capturing the world through his lens. Curteis uniquely blends his enthusiasm for storytelling with a deep understanding of technology and photography.

An avid fisherman, hiker, and storyteller, Curteis is dedicated to sharing the beauty and adventure of Southern Africa with the world.

Extensive Hospitality Experience

With over eight years in hospitality, Curteis has experience in diverse roles—guide, cook, barman, waiter, and porter—from luxurious 5-star African lodges to simple camping under the stars.

Founder of Experience Africa Safaris

His expertise ultimately led him to establish Experience Africa Safaris, a bespoke travel company specializing in authentic, personalized experiences across Southern Africa.

South African Roots, Swiss Base

Joshua grew up in South Africa and travelled extensively across the region. Now living in Stäfa, he remains closely connected to his Swiss heritage while keeping one foot in the wild landscapes of Africa he loves. A Chartered Accountant and CFA Charterholder working in finance in Zurich, he brings structure, precision and thoughtful planning to every journey he helps shape.

Swiss-African Family Heritage

His family story spans Southern Africa and Switzerland. His grandfather co-founded the Swiss Club in Zimbabwe in the 1950s, and his mother later wrote "Swiss Fondue in Africa" about her childhood there. On his father's side, the family has been in South Africa since the late 1800s.

Raised in Tourism and Hospitality

Joshua's grounding in hospitality began early through hands-on involvement in his family's lodge and Lesotho tour business in the Southern Drakensberg, shaping his understanding of warm hosting and exceptional guest experiences.
